About The Position

The Maintenance Worker position at Port Everglades involves performing a variety of general building and grounds maintenance and repairs at assigned facilities. The role requires working under supervision to ensure a clean, safe environment for the public and County employees while minimizing repair costs and extending the life of equipment and fixtures.

Requirements

• Requires three months of maintenance or closely related experience.
• Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

• 2+ years of experience in commercial facility maintenance.
• 2+ years of experience as a construction helper.
• 2+ years of experience operating small tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled manual labor assisting construction trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, painting, and vehicle maintenance.
• Clean berths, terminals, grounds, and sidewalks to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Manually pick up trash and empty waste barrels throughout the port and cruise terminals.
• Operate forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other equipment safely and effectively.
• Interact with the public and County employees to provide information and resolve operational issues.
• Set out temporary traffic control devices to ensure safety at work sites.
• Prepare log sheets to document work activities and equipment usage.
• Maintain construction-related equipment to ensure safe operation and minimize downtime.
• Operate a variety of hand tools and motorized equipment.
• Perform other related work as assigned.
