Maintenance Worker - Streets and Drainage
About The Position
The City of Friendswood, Department of Public Works is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker to assist in the repairs of city streets, rights-of-ways, and drainage systems. DUTIES: Periodically operates backhoe and other tractors and drives crew trucks. Maintains and repairs streets, curbs, and sidewalks, using a variety of tools and equipment. Installs and repairs storm sewers, inlets, and storm manholes. Operates laser-leveling equipment to determine ditch elevations for grading and maintenance. Operates heavy mowing equipment during maintenance of ditches, shoulders, guardrails, and easements. Operates water jet truck to clean culverts and storm sewers. Provides emergency response to remove fallen trees, storm debris, assist in emergency repairs, and respond to traffic emergencies, after normal business hours. Complies with and enforces normal safety precautions to prevent injury or accidents to self or others on the job sites. Performs other duties within the areas of responsibility and ability as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- six months to one year of experience
- valid Texas Driver's license
