About The Position

The per diem general maintenance worker at MelroseWakefield-Lawrence Memorial Hospital is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of hospital buildings and grounds. This role includes preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and construction duties across various maintenance crafts such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, and more. The position requires flexibility with rotating weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts, ensuring that the hospital's facilities are well-maintained and operational.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of building maintenance experience.
• On-the-job training in one or more building trades.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of maintenance duties in and around the hospital buildings such as repairs and maintenance of machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Assist co-workers with troubleshooting and necessary repairs as well as installation of new services or projects related to Plant operations.
• Perform electrical repairs including removal and replacement of switches, ballasts, motors, and motor controls.
• Conduct plumbing tasks such as cleaning and rodding drains and fixtures as assigned.
• Carry out minor carpentry work including installation and repair of doors, shelving, and locks as needed.
• Repair plaster, brickwork, or concrete as necessary.
• Solder and weld materials as needed.
