About The Position

This position performs street maintenance and repair duties. The employee will be responsible for constructing or repairing driveways, speed bumps, spill ways, cuts, overlays, edge ruts, and potholes. They will set up work-related signs and traffic cones, directing traffic at work sites. The role involves spreading, smoothing, and shaping asphalt, operating a wheelbarrow to transport asphalt, and applying asphalt as appropriate. Additional duties include loading and unloading trucks with proper materials, applying tar, operating rollers and dump trucks, cleaning trucks and other equipment, grading ground for concrete work, and setting up concrete forms. The employee will also assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the fleet yard and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques utilized in the performance of street maintenance activities.
• Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the performance of street maintenance activities.
• Knowledge of the safe operation of assigned equipment.
• Skill in problem solving and decision making.
• Skill in the operation of hand tools and other assigned equipment.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
