Maintenance Worker (Full-Time)

We are currently seeking a passionate individual for the position of a Full-Time Maintenance Worker. This position is based out of our Main Office location in Islip Terrace and provides integral maintenance care to our facilities throughout Suffolk and Nassau Counties.

Responsibilities

• Help on the overall maintenance of all Mercy Haven properties.
• Assist in the preparation of apartments for new/relocated residents and home improvement work.
• Perform routine maintenance, such as painting, wall repair, plumbing, electrical, window and door replacement, tile and cabinet work, etc.
• Assist maintenance personnel in all maintenance repairs and construction for Mercy Haven properties.
• Perform rehab of kitchens and bathrooms.
• Remove and installation of ceramic tile, vct, vinyl flooring, etc.
• Troubleshooting of appliances - maintenance and repair.
• Repair/replace broken windows, doors, door locks.
• Perform minor and major repair to all buildings and equipment.
• Communicate with outside contractors working on our facilities.
• Prepare apartments for move-ins.
• Conduct building inspections as scheduled by the Director of Facilities Management.
• Perform general outside maintenance (up to two stories high).
• Moving of furniture, appliances, and supplies (heavy lifting involved).
• Perform preventative maintenance.
• Maintain Mercy Haven issued credit cards along with cost records of spending.
• Work in electronic maintenance management work order system.
• Assume other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Relevant work experience in maintenance, home repair, carpentry, electric work, plumbing.
• Access to own tools.
• Valid NYS Driver's License with a safe driving record, access to a personal and reliable vehicle.
• Physical Requirements: Sits, stands, stoops, squats, walks, and moves intermittently during work hours, pushes and/or pulls 10-15 pounds daily, pushes and/or pulls 125-200 pounds occasionally, drive agency vehicle, ability to perform roof repairs up to 2 stories and lift heavy objects.
