About The Position

The position involves performing a wide variety of welding functions related to the maintenance and repair of equipment, machines, buildings, and more. The role requires working from sketches, drawings, or verbal instructions to lay out work, utilizing various tools and equipment to fabricate and repair metal items. Responsibilities include fitting up, clamping, and tracking weld work, selecting proper equipment, parts, and welder settings to perform welds to prescribed specifications. Additionally, the role involves assisting in pipefitting and other maintenance functions, including mechanical repairs, and using cutting equipment to cut materials to the desired size and shape. The position also requires participation in planning and laying out projects, coordinating materials, supplies, equipment, and staff to complete projects efficiently. Work may include critical conformance to codes, including boiler and vacuum chamber standards.

Requirements

  • Strong shop math and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with welding, cutting and fabricating equipment and techniques.
  • Experience and/or education in industrial maintenance and excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work from general instructions with little supervision.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required welding certifications including passing initial maintenance welding tests.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Able to climb ladders, work at heights and in awkward positions.

Responsibilities
