About The Position

Summary: This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing electronic and electrical equipment and providing technical support to other team members when needed, for performs hands on repair and replacement of electrical and PLC components, and for Electrical/Control system analysis, programming, and modification on manufacturing equipment that drive improvements to machine reliability and up time by using the following tools; troubleshooting, root cause analysis, system analysis, and preventive maintenance solutions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned. Abide by and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations. Responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining equipment relating to electrical, PLC and electro-mechanical issues. Performs electrical, PLC, and HMI maintenance. Manage Work Orders, track progress, and perform any necessary follow-up. Recommend improvements of techniques and procedures to analyze, troubleshoot, build up, maintain, and repair complex equipment. Diagnose electrical and control problems, and determine how best to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. Utilize AutoCAD to review and develop electrical and control drawings. Complete repairs in conformance with established standards. Assist in formulating standards/work procedures while performing these duties. Assist in developing and continuously improving the preventive maintenance program. Assemble and complete periodic testing of new/different motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, and other electrical equipment and components. Document recommendations, modifications and/or replacements via CMMS. Create and modify programming in various plant automation systems to improve control strategy, increase capacity, and other enhancements as needed. Help repairing, rebuilding, and installing a variety of centrifugal, gear and diaphragm pumps, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery or equipment as needed. Diagnose mechanical and/or electrical problems and determine how best to correct them, checking blueprints, electrical schematics, repair manuals, internet resources, or parts catalogs, as necessary. Manage the site's spare parts inventory, including weekly monitoring of inventory. Order supplies, equipment, and materials for projects, including determining appropriate supplies and materials, and identifying vendors; may provide input into budget requests. Respond to complaints and questions regarding maintenance projects Communicate and liaise directly with the operations departments to coordinate maintenance and repair work, and ensure a quick turnaround for smooth functioning of facilities. Maintain regular interaction with Facility manager, Operations Supervisors, and Operations Managers. Participate in training and continuous learning opportunities; meet training and/or certification requirements of the job, department, product or area as designated/defined in work instructions and quality standards. Maintain ongoing one-on-one communication with team members. Perform job related administrative tasks such as the completion of daily shift/maintenance records, and the maintenance of time/attendance

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Industrial Electrical, Electrical Technology, or similar field; or completion of a four-year apprenticeship program in electrical/electronic technology, mechanical technology, or manufacturing technology; or combination of partial completion of education and a minimum of 7 years’ of Industrial Electrician or Maintenance Technician experience, of which at least 2 years’ experience in PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience in Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC's - Simatic Step 7, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, RSLinx, etc. is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions.
  • Perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • PLC Technician Certificate
  • PLC Technician Certificate II
  • Must have a good working knowledge to include, but not limited to, the trouble shooting and repair of VFDs, Motor/Wiring configurations, PLCs, Computers, Electrical Schematics, Control Circuits, and Preventive / Predictive maintenance.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in maintaining industrial machines
  • 2-5 years in electronics and machine electrical systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC's - Simatic Step 7, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, RSLinx, etc. is highly preferred.
  • Experience developing PM's preferred
  • Experience diagnosing proprietary machinery preferred
  • Experience with starting a new manufacturing facility/production line or unit is preferred
