About The Position

The Maintenance Utilities Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Utilities technicians and operation of Plant building systems. These activities include maintaining the Ammonia refrigeration systems, Glycol, Boilers, steam/condensate, HVAC, air compressors, Fire and water systems supporting plant operations.   The responsibilities of this position include: Directly supervises Utilities Technicians, including daily work direction, training, coaching, performance reviews, and accountability processes Builds technical depth and PSM awareness within the Utilities team through hands-on training and structured development Leads and administers the Plant PSM and RMP programs in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 and EPA requirements Owns and ensures compliance with all 14 PSM Elements, with strong emphasis on mechanical integrity, operating procedures, training and competency validation. Facilitates and participates in PHA/HAZOP reviews and action item tracking Manages the PSM and Refrigeration compliance database; ensures records are accurate, current, and audit-ready Acts as site point-of-contact for internal and external PSM, OSHA, EPA, and insurance audits Oversees operation and maintenance of Ammonia refrigeration systems, Glycol systems, Boilers, steam, and condensate systems, HVAC, compressed air, fire protection, and water systems Works with the Maintenance Manager and contractors to plan and execute repairs, upgrades, and capital projects Collaborates with Maintenance Planning to schedule and complete preventive maintenance Enforces and models compliance with all Chobani and OSHA safety rules and regulations Provides hands-on training related to safe maintenance practices, line break permits, Lockout/Tagout, and MOC execution Participates as a member of the Plant Emergency Action Team Maintains working knowledge of RETA, IIAR, and ASHRAE standards At times, a flexible schedule as needed: Including nights, weekends, and holiday shifts

Requirements

  • Technical trade school certification and license
  • Vocational training and experience
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive technical experience in Ammonia refrigeration and building systems
  • Specialized NH3 course and training programs completion.
  • Knowledge of PSM /RMP management systems.
  • Industrial Plant Ammonia refrigeration systems maintenance expertise.
  • NY Class C Water Operators License
  • Monthly Refrigeration team meetings focused on plant systems and compliance.
  • Ensure plant inspections and rounds are performed with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of maintenance, business systems, Microsoft Office.
  • Ensure all Mechanical rooms /equipment are organized, clean and presentable.
  • Must be able to work on your feet in a refrigerated environment for up to 12 Hours.
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 40 pounds.
