About The Position

The Maintenance Trainer at VVTA is responsible for researching, designing, and presenting classes at all levels of technical knowledge related to the theory and practical application of new and existing vehicle components and systems operations. This includes vehicle equipment and tool safety classes. The trainer will also design and present maintenance training classes that comply with the requirements of the FTA, the DOT, the State of California, the VVTA, and Keolis. Responsibilities include maintaining instructor manuals, creating handouts, developing testing for class presentations, coordinating all vehicle and technology training classes, and documenting all training classes while maintaining individual technician training record files.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years progressive heavy duty fleet mechanical experience.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years' experience with teaching/instruction, both field and classroom.
  • Associates degree in management, mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Broad understanding of all mechanical systems related to heavy duty transportation vehicles.
  • Familiarity with laws/regulations associated with the safe operation of maintenance fleets.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work without constant supervision; self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design and present classes at all levels of technical knowledge related to vehicle components and systems operations.
  • Design and present maintenance training classes complying with FTA, DOT, State of California, VVTA, and Keolis requirements.
  • Maintain instructor manuals, create handouts, and develop testing for class presentations.
  • Coordinate all vehicle and technology training classes, ensuring class size and schedules are managed with shop supervision.
  • Document all training classes and maintain individual technician training record files.
