About The Position

It's More Than a Job, It's a Calling! Position: Maintenance Trades Specialist II - Structured Cabling Technician Location: Advocate Corporate; Oak Brook, IL. Full Time; 1st Shift ~Monday-Friday, some weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of technical training.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2-4 Years of Experience in relatable industrial/trades maintenance or operations.
  • Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures.
  • Intermediate level computer skills in using systems such as CMMS, Microsoft Office, Building Automation Systems.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight with intermediate level technical skills in facility maintenance.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, crawl, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead, lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to chest-level, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 50 lbs. of force.
  • Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards and therefore knowledge of safety precautions.
  • Position requires travel.
  • May be exposed to road/weather hazards.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Must obtain your System Max installer Certification with in your first year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, etc.) and fiber optic (single-mode, multi-mode) cables.
  • Install and mount cable support systems (e.g., racks, trays, J-hooks, conduit).
  • Dress and route cables neatly and according to industry standards.
  • Install and terminate patch panels, keystone jacks, and other connectivity hardware.
  • Perform cable testing and certification using appropriate equipment (e.g., Fluke).
  • Label cables and equipment clearly and accurately.
  • Diagnose and resolve cabling issues, including connectivity problems and signal loss.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on cabling systems.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues related to cabling infrastructure.
  • Identify and repair or replace faulty cables and connectors.
  • Maintain accurate records of cable installations, including as-built drawings and test results.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
  • Update network diagrams and documentation as needed.
  • Adhere to all Advocate and industry safety standards and procedures.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
