About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Gia-Pacific is responsible for supporting mining operations by performing maintenance and troubleshooting on rock handling equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and uptime of machinery, which directly impacts production and quality goals. The technician will adhere to safety standards and engage in both preventative and corrective maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mobile equipment and industrial machinery.
  • Assist in aligning with Gia-Pacific and Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) safety standards.
  • Install and align new equipment to meet production and quality goals.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and repair all equipment according to plant policies.
  • Perform periodic preventative maintenance activities, including lubricating and changing fluids and filters.
  • Install and repair mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gears, belts, and couplings.
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Complete mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance activities.
  • Apply simple problem-solving methods to reduce and eliminate failures.

Requirements

  • Maintenance knowledge with the ability to assess health and safety requirements.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues and lubricating parts to prevent premature wear.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates degree or two years of study from a technical college in Industrial Maintenance or Industrial Technology.
  • Experience working with rock handling systems (crushers, bag houses, belts, etc.).
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Manufacturing System (CMMS).
  • At least two years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
