About The Position

Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing routine, corrective and preventative maintenance of all production equipment, machinery within the facility, as well as facility infrastructure and grounds. This role is essential to minimizing downtime and supporting efficient and safe manufacturing operations. The Maintenance Technician will interact with various departments throughout Avery Weigh-Tronix including production departments and supporting departments. What You Will Do: Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Assist in new equipment development and modifications and revisions to existing machines. Troubleshoot and repair production equipment, including motors, pumps, and compressors. Maintain building systems including HVAC, lighting, and plumbing as needed. Conduct safety inspections and maintain documentation of maintenance activities. Respond promptly to equipment failures and emergencies to minimize production interruptions. Work collaboratively with production staff to schedule and complete repairs and maintenance. Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, spare parts, and equipment. Follow all safety protocols, including Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) and OSHA regulations. Document work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities. Operate plow truck, bobcat and manual tools to keep the grounds and facility safe during all seasons. Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the facility. Communicate with other shifts, operators, and technicians to give and receive updates on equipment status.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, PLC troubleshooting a plus.
  • Willingness/ability to attend formal training courses to learn new skills and acquire licensure's as necessary.
  • Has or able to complete Low-pressure boiler certification through the state of Minnesota
  • Able to read blueprints, schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Requirements to include electrical safety, machine guarding, and authorized lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer software, email, excel, word and internet.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Possess strong work ethic, is a self-starter, has good attendance and works successfully in team settings.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Possess dexterity and flexibility to allow for work around various machines that require crawling, kneeling, reaching, bending, and standing.
  • Must be able to stand for a full shift (8 hours).
  • Ability to operate all types of hand and power tools.
  • Wear all required PPE
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds sporadically.
