About The Position

Cornerstone Companies, Inc. is hiring a Maintenance Technician to support medical office building(s) in the Detroit and surrounding areas by performing preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and emergency response—ensuring patients, providers, and staff experience a safe, comfortable environment every day.

Requirements

  • Experience in Facilities Maintenance, Building Maintenance, or Property Maintenance - at least 1 year
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair building systems efficiently
  • Safety-focused mindset with attention to detail
  • Professional communication skills and customer-service approach
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, with a strong understanding of building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of Building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance).
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience with Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
  • Understanding of Medical office facilities' specific needs, including infection control measures and safety protocols.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve problems related to electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Strong communication skills to work with building management, tenants, and vendors.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical documents related to maintenance systems.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as bending, lifting 50lbs or less unassisted, walking, standing, and climbing ladders is required.
  • Must have valid transportation to get between all assigned buildings and perform all required duties daily.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical office buildings, healthcare facilities, or commercial properties (preferred)
  • HVAC or EPA certification
  • Electrical or plumbing experience
  • CMMS or work-order system experience
  • Education or Certification in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or building maintenance.
  • 7 years prior experience in building or facilities maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or medical office environment.
  • Additional certifications in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades.
  • Advanced understanding of environmental controls, including infection control and compliance with medical facility regulations.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, Electrical systems, Plumbing systems, Lighting and building infrastructure
  • Respond to comfort calls and make system adjustments
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues
  • Perform weekly and monthly generator load transfers
  • Perform fire system impairments for testing and construction purposes
  • Repair or replace Ceiling tiles and grid systems, Door hardware and restroom fixtures, Walls, floors, windows, ceilings, and finishes
  • Perform minor electrical repairs (ballasts, switches, receptacles)
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs (toilets, urinals, water heaters, faucets)
  • Maintain office and restroom functionality, including vent cleaning
  • Conduct routine safety and facility inspections
  • Support compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Participate in emergency response procedures
  • Maintain clean, organized mechanical rooms, shops, and storage areas
  • Order maintenance materials and supplies and pick up items as needed
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, work orders, and inspection records
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and service providers
  • Assist with renovations, furniture moves, and facility reconfigurations
  • Participate in audits, assessments, and on-call rotation as required
