About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, plant utilities, and facility systems to support safe and reliable plant operations. This role performs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and building‑related maintenance tasks and supports production uptime through preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Repair malfunctioning machines, equipment, and small tools; escalate issues requiring supervisor assistance. Perform repairs on electrical and electronic systems Conduct preventive maintenance and lubrication to ensure proper equipment operation. Repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Assist with installation and relocation of production machinery and equipment. Complete building and facility related maintenance as required. Operate industrial vehicles used for moving materials and equipment. Assist in training other employees, support cross training, and participate in special projects. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall maintenance operations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Roanoke, VA (50 miles) will be considered for this position
  • Ability to execute work orders
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems (PLC, hydraulics, pneumatics)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of fulfilling job responsibilities with minimal oversight
  • Open to operating powered lifting and transport equipment, such as scissor lifts and forklifts
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, and lift items weighing up to 45 pounds
  • Comfortable standing, walking, bending, reaching, and pulling frequently and for extended durations
  • Demonstrates basic computer literacy
  • Skilled in using hand tools and maintenance shop equipment
  • Proven electrical and mechanical skills and experience
  • Highly ethical, self-motivated, and effective working within cross-functional teams
  • Willing to work extended hours or weekends when required

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC training and/or certification
  • Certification in electrical, mechanical or related field from an accredited college or vocational school
  • Associate's degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance from an accredited college or vocational school
  • Lean/ six sigma experience
