Job Summary Inspects, operates and performs preventive and corrective maintenance (of minor complexity) on facility related equipment and systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.). May assist more senior Facilities department personnel in moderate to complex repairs. Responsible for working in an on-call capacity to support after-hours maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ experience in facility maintenance preferred.
  • Current valid Driver license.
  • Basic problem-solving and organization skills: ability to effectively protoitize work.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and on task during emergencies, high-volume or stressful times.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing workloads, locations, and /or task assignments.
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience and demonstrate sensitivity to others emotional, social and mental health needs.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer for basic tasks such as using email, word processing and navigating the internet.

Responsibilities

  • Operates, maintains and performs minor repairs of facility related equipment.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting of equipment failures/malfunctions with some assistance from others.
  • May perform minor carpentry, painting, drywall and other aesthetic type repairs.
  • Completes building rounds/equipment inspections, monitors and responds to equipment alarms, and fire/utility related emergencies.
  • Performs work orders as assigned by Supervisor (or designee).
  • Ability to effectively utilize materials, parts and supplies to affect maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Keeps work area neat and orderly to reflect a professional work environment.
  • Uses the computerized maintenance management system for work assignment and documentation.
  • Demonstrates ability to complete tasks with guidance utilizing available resources.
  • Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
  • Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems.
  • Assisting the engineers as needed.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment: Asks clarifying questions and/or provides constructive input in a helpful and respectful manner.
  • Builds and maintains working relationships: Maintains effective working relationships with supervisor and direct co-workers.
  • Creates positive experiences for patients, customers and, co-workers: Consistently provides a level of service that meets SPMC standards.
  • Demonstrates ongoing learning & development: Participates in ongoing skills training and competency development.
