About The Position

Working at Escuela de Guadalupe includes many different responsibilities to make a small, financially accessible school run effectively. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Years of experience: 4 years of building maintenance, custodial, or similar trade
  • Colorado Driver’s License
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including related work experience in one or more of the building trades (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry)
  • Language: Either English or Spanish
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, faculty, and students
  • Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial, grounds keeping and building maintenance work.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
  • Follow Health and safety regulations.
  • Use Proper lifting techniques.
  • Successful completion of CBI & FBI Criminal background check
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed
  • Must be able to engage in physical labor about 90% of the time
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Be open to a flexible schedule when the schools needs necessitates it
  • Open to working in a Catholic Environment and respecting the Catholic faith

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in multiple trades
  • Working knowledge of basic computer programs for record keeping, writing and printing, online searches; competent data entry skills with ability to input information accurately; prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and reports on an ongoing basis
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, products, suppliers
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and the ability to fix and service them
  • Working knowledge of managing vendors, invoices, and payments
  • Able to build strong networks in and outside the organization

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring facilities are tidy and functional
  • Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping etc, on a scheduled and consistent basis
  • Perform minor fixes as needed, such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls, etc.
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring on a routine basis to identify potential issues
  • Ensure garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, trimming trees/bushes, collecting trash, etc.
  • Help with snow removal when needed
  • Replacing light bulbs
  • Inspecting and troubleshooting equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
  • Checking functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
  • Collaborating with workers and other professionals during renovations
  • Reporting issues to the Director of Finance, HR, & Operations and/or a maintenance manager
  • Vacuum and/or mop all floors
  • Empty all trash receptacles
  • Replenish or replace paper towels, toilet paper, soap, air fresheners
  • Clean & sanitize all bathrooms, urinals, toilets, & mirrors
  • Immediate clean-up of accidents
  • Clean door windows and sanitize doors/handles/knobs
  • Wipe or sanitize all desks and tables in all classrooms
  • Report any issues or ongoing excessive need for cleanings
  • Dust shelves, locker tops, and window ledges
  • Remove scuff marks on the floors or walls
  • Clean display cases
  • Wash & disinfect trash receptacles
  • Clean fans, screens, vents of heating and cooling units
  • Window cleaning inside & out
  • Detailed cleaning — all nooks & crannies
  • Paint/repair as needed or directed
  • Clean, sanitize, & repair all desks, chairs, and bathroom walls
  • Remove wax build up along seams of baseboard before waxing
  • Wax floors and/or clean carpets
  • Install appliances and equipment as required and ensure all related documentation (ie, manuals, warranties, service providers, etc) is on file at Escuela
  • Implement a preventive maintenance program for school buildings and grounds
  • Support the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the door lock system, fire alarm and sprinkler system, fire extinguishers, and other safety and security systems in place in collaboration with other Escuela staff.
  • Support the upkeep, repair and maintenance of mechanical systems in the building including but not limited to the boiler heating system, the HVAC and cooling systems, electrical system internally and externally, building-wide plumbing
  • Assure school buildings, grounds, facilities and equipment are operational and safe
  • Inspect school buildings and grounds to assure that proper safety, cleaning and sanitation standards are maintained
  • Checking functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
  • Arrange for necessary repair work by vendors and or maintenance personnel; contact vendors by telephone/email as necessary; inspect and review work performed to assure school standards are met.
  • Executing routine and scheduled maintenance to Escuela’s equipment and building systems.
  • Develop and execute a preventative maintenance process and schedule for Escuela’s critical infrastructure (note: the actual work may be performed by 3rd parties in some cases)
  • Meet schedules and timelines
  • Estimate time and materials on a wide variety of activities
  • Complete tasks independently with direction from supervisor
