Through strong operational oversight, vendor partnerships, and team leadership, Campus Operations ensures the Authority’s facilities operate at the highest standards of quality, safety practices, incident response, and preventive maintenance. FACILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN POSITION SUMMARY The Authority is currently recruiting a Facility Maintenance Technician to join Georgia World Congress Center. The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs to building structures including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, HVAC and carpentry work within regulatory guidelines. FACILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately exposed to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The ability to lift 50 pounds or more may be required of this position. Daily shifts will endure various degrees of walking, standing, turning, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling, requiring a full range of body movements. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

Requirements

  • Ability to read technical diagrams and blueprints.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Have a valid driver’s license from the State of Georgia

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school training in electrical and or HVAC preferred
  • Minimum of (2) years of electrical, HVAC or plumbing trade preferred
  • Experience as an electrician/electrician helper, HVAC Tech/HVAC helper for a residential or commercial contractor with work experience in 480/277 volt, 208/120-volt systems with knowledge of DC circuitry would be beneficial to this position

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Facility Maintenance, the Facility Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs electrical controls, wiring and lighting systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using the appropriate testing devices.
  • Monitor and secure the safe keeping of equipment and supplies.
  • Make repairs to plumbing fixtures.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment and facilities requiring repair or replacement.
  • Maintain accountability of work orders for daily tasks.
  • Maintain a professional image which represents the philosophy of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority while providing exhibitors and clients the highest level of customer service deemed possible.
  • Participate in all Georgia World Congress Center and Campus Operations training programs as required, such as cart, forklift, boom, and platform lift training.
  • Participate in periodic departmental meetings as required.
  • Actively participate in The Authority training programs as required.
  • Accurately document and complete administrative paperwork.
  • Comply with The Authority policies and procedures associated with such programs as risk management, safety, and emergency management.
  • Maintain an ethical and professional image when interacting with internal and external customers in to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
