About The Position

A Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping a facility operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. A Maintenance Technician will usually be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around a facility. Pay: $22.59 an hour- approx. $47,000 annually. FLSA: Non-exempt. Eligible for overtime. Schedule: 8am-4pm Sunday-Thursday (Friday&Saturday off). Schedule: Thursday-Monday 11am-7pm (Tuesday & Wednesday off). Location: Rego Park Queens, NY

Requirements

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Three years of experience in maintenance or a related field may be substituted for high School diploma or GED equivalent.
Certificates: F-02 or F80 Fire Safety Coordinator certification, required (or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire)
Communication: Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Reasoning Ability: make judgment calls, perform proper notifications, and make appropriate decisions.
Physical Performance: Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (up to 50lbs), tour entire property, walk distances, and climb stairs (2-4 flights).
Other Skills: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details.

Nice To Haves

Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, for example, window, door, or wall repair
Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
Maintaining the building HVAC equipment to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly.
Painting the building when old paint has become faded or chipped.
Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
Other responsibilities may be assigned.
