WildWater Maintenance Technician (Full Time)

About The Position

Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism is dedicated to improving quality of life through exceptional parks, facilities, events, and recreational opportunities for all. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Represents CWAC, WildWater, and CPRST brands while greeting visitors and members. Helps maintain a professional environment that conforms to CWAC and WildWater policies as related to safety and cleanliness. Will oversee the WildWater cleaning team throughout the operating season. Will perform offseason maintenance projects including, but not limited to, slide waxing, slide cleaing, pressure washing, furniture repair, tube repair, painting, and other general maintenance tasks. Ensures proper functionality of aquatics facilities including general and preventative maintenance, performing daily inspections to ensure all equipment is clean and in excellent condition. Monitors, troubleshoots and performs skilled repairs and general maintenance on aquatics features including, but not limited to, chemical systems, pumps and motors, circulation systems, heaters, play features, pool and deck lighting, slides, concrete, tile and plaster. Maintains full understanding of pool chemistry and general pool maintenance practices. Obtains and/or maintains certification training in Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) and/or Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) programs. Uses and reinforces safe chemical handling, in addition to following and adhering to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) documentation practices and procedures, as outlined by OSHA, EPA, Federal, State, and Local regulations. Maintains and retains appropriate documentation as per industry, regulatory, and CPRST standards. Adheres to and enforces practices and procedures to ensure the security of all inventory and assets including, but not limited to, supplies, tools, equipment, furniture, and facilities. Maintains persistent check of safety/maintenance procedures to ensure practices are in keeping with safety standards. Performs general maintenance and upkeep of all areas of the facility including but not limited to locker rooms, common area, offices, fitness, gymnasium, walking track, childcare, kitchen, concessions, aquatics, and water park. Maintains weekly/monthly maintenance staff schedule as required to properly service and maintain all areas of the facilities. Position requires lifting of light and heavy objects, climbing ladders, and using tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. Assists CWAC and WildWater facility directors in maintaining appropriate inventory of cleaning supplies. Assists in overseeing all party rental set-ups and breakdown of events including cleaning between parties and special events. Notifies facility directors immediately in the event of equipment breakdowns. Adhering to manufacturers’ specification, develops and maintains schedules of routine and preventative maintenance and replacement of aquatics equipment. Exhibits a friendly professional demeanor at all times while serving the needs of all members and visitors inquiring about the amenities offered at CWAC and WildWater. Administers maintenance closing responsibilities for CWAC and WildWater. Attends all meetings as required by supervisors. Maintains professional internal and external relationships in keeping with CPRST core values and customer service standards. Work hours may vary, which will include nights, weekends, and holidays, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects. May be required to respond to emergency calls to perform repairs and/or meet with service vendors during off-duty hours. Exhibits a high level of professionalism and integrity at all times. Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Assigned work areas are both indoors and outdoors. Work requires this position to routinely be outside in various weather conditions, with occasionally exposure to adverse weather conditions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed both inside and outside and requires the physical and mental ability to operate a motor vehicle, grounds maintenance equipment, and computer. A high degree of dexterity is required for the use of some tools or equipment. Work requires working around heights, heavy lifting, climbing and intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping while performing various job duties. Must be able to routinely lift fifty pounds without assistance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience and knowledge in maintenance/janitorial tasks
  • Skill in problem solving and decision making
  • Experience in management of others
  • Skill in written and oral communication
  • Some knowledge of audio-visual equipment
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which include a background check as well as drug and alcohol screening
  • Experience and training which demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience in maintenance of fitness and aquatic facilities preferred
