The Maintenance Technician is a key member of our team, responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Successful applicants will have the following competencies: Mechanical aptitude and skillset Effective communication skills Ethical conduct Problem-solving & troubleshooting abilities Ability to work as part of a team & independently at times In addition, applicants should demonstrate proficiency in diagnosing electrical issues, interpreting electrical schematics, troubleshooting control circuits, and utilizing diagnostic tools such as multimeters. Experience with electrical panel wiring, motor controls, and identifying faulty components in complex systems is highly desirable. Ability to conduct root cause analysis of electrical failures and perform corrective actions efficiently is essential.

  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship (Combination of education, certifications, or equivalent experience in manufacturing maintenance will be considered in lieu of apprenticeship requirement)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electrical panel wiring, motor controls, and identifying faulty components in complex systems
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis of electrical failures and perform corrective actions efficiently
  • AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance
  • 5 + years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience with VFD & Servo Drive Systems
  • Experience in CNC machine maintenance & troubleshotting
  • PLC experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform diversified duties to install, maintain, and repair production machines and plant equipment.
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs during production, as well as scheduled maintenance during machine service.
  • Electrical troubleshooting: Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems and components, ensuring reliable operation of all production machines.
  • Apply advanced skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Safely operate various hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and ensure work areas remain clean and orderly.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor.
