About The Position

Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level role focused on assisting more experienced technicians and learning the fundamentals of property maintenance. This position involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining assigned properties to ensure they are in optimal condition. Maintenance Technician I supports the company by maintaining properties across the portfolio as needed and ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations. This position reports to the Regional Maintenance Manager with daily worksite oversight from the properties' Maintenance Technician III.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications are not required for Maintenance Technician 1, but should be willing to pursue relevant qualifications such as:
  • EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants.
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification for safety awareness.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as painting, caulking, and minor repairs.
  • Assist with routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Help maintain common areas, including janitorial duties and landscaping.
  • Respond to maintenance requests under supervision.
  • Learn and adhere to safety protocols and building codes.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down equipment for events or activities.
  • Report or document any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Assist in managing the inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Complete unit make-readies, ensuring vacant units are fully prepared for leasing.
  • Conducting initial move-out inspections and documenting unit conditions.
  • Performing key/lock changes, necessary repairs, painting, and deep cleaning.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership to support the mission of Prospera Community Housing.
