About The Position

The St. James is looking for a MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN to join the team at our new The St. James Performance Club located in Bethesda, Maryland. The St. James is the premier sports, wellness, and active entertainment destination brand in the country, with the mission to maximize human potential by designing, developing, and operating sports, wellness and entertainment destinations that engage, inspire, and empower people to pursue their passions and be their best at play, at work and in life. Our new location at Reston Town Center features a premium Performance Club, with intentionally designed spaces, state of the art equipment and performance-based programming. We need to identify, select, and train a team of passionate teammates who can deliver on our promise to provide excellence in all we do, including provide comprehensive results in a premium hospitality fitness environment. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical condition and appearance of the site. Organize, coordinate and manage the overall maintenance programs including interior and exterior property appearance, timely work order service, and cost-effective inventory control of the property. Required to be “on call” 24 hours.

Requirements

  • General maintenance experience, light carpentry, plumbing and electrical knowledge
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, safety conscious steady and dependable, ability to work with pressure of deadlines, and ability to flex work schedule to accommodate after hour and weekends.
  • Hours of Work: per needs of client, Monday through Friday. Must be “on call” 24 hours per day, when scheduled.
  • Amount of Overtime: As needed for emergencies.
  • Extensive mobility and excellent physical condition.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate all necessary hand tools to make repairs.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, etc. to reach items in need of repairs.
  • Ability to drive to and from job sites.
  • Tolerance to all extremes of hot and cold weather, as may be necessary.
  • Must provide own basic tools, or be willing to obtain the required hand tools.
  • Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of the following:
  • Hand tools: Various wrenches, screwdrivers, grips, sledge hammer, hammer, snips, post hole diggers, saws, etc.
  • Power Tools: Wrenches, grinder, sander, drill, saws, etc.
  • User-Moved Aids: Wheelbarrows, dollies, hand trucks, buckets, hoists, jacks, stepladders, full ladders, double ladders.
  • Must have dependable means of getting to site at any time.
  • High school education or equivalent, or trade school required.
  • Must be proficient in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and perform minor and routine maintenance/repair in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assure all service requests are completed on a daily basis.
  • Accurately document work performed on service request, including parts and return to supervisor by end of day.
  • Follow-up on incomplete service requests.
  • Promote good public relations with guests, vendors, contractors and company staff.
  • Always display a friendly and courteous attitude.
  • Never confront supervisor or other employees in front of others.
  • Inspect site using provided checklist.
  • Inform site manager of needed services and repairs.
  • Routinely perform duties to ensure spaces are ready for daily functions.
  • Re-inspect spaces to determine quality of work performed.
  • Complete special projects as may be assigned and prioritized by the On-site manager.
  • Inspect exterior of the property.
  • Perform building and common area upkeep on a daily basis in accordance with company standards.
  • Assist in keeping grounds neat and free of litter.
  • Assist with the client improvements and functions as required.
  • Complete assigned preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Order parts and supplies and maintain inventory.
  • Maintain and engineering spaces appearance to standards.
  • Maintain proper equipment, and equipment inventory to ensure warranty compliance.
  • Complete janitorial and maintenance functions including but not limited to:
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
  • Minor landscaping as required.
  • Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.
  • Perform effective emergency maintenance (after hours) as required.
  • Coordinate maintenance objectives with the On-site Manager daily.
  • Perform, and report on, all work according to the safety standards of the company, OSHA and health codes.
  • Perform work area clean-up on a daily basis.
