If so, it's time to consider a career with Utz Quality Foods! We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to work from our manufacturing facility in Algona, WA on 3rd Shift. The Maintenance Tech is responsible to work independently installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining, all mechanical and electrical components of production and facility equipment.

Requirements

  • General mechanical skills consistent with 5 - 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing a plus).
  • Advanced knowledge/training/certification in the following areas:
  • General electrical including blueprint reading and schematics
  • General plumbing involving installing, maintaining and repairing water, gas, and drainage systems
  • General Welding including ARC, Oxyacetylene, torch
  • Machining and Lathe operations
  • PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers)
  • Knowledge of safe operating practices involved in the use of power tools, lock-out/tag-out programs and food safety.
  • Experience with general category tools (hammers, pliers, grease guns, etc.).
  • Knowledge of parts procurement and inventory processes to ensure uninterrupted operation of equipment and critical part replenishment.
  • Requires knowledge and skills in electrical, mechanical, and electronic applications acquired through 3-5 years of experience.
  • Able to read and work from blueprints, drawings, work orders and electrical schematics.
  • Requires the ability to troubleshoot and repair all types of equipment quickly and independently.
  • Requires working at excessive heights.
  • Required to wear non-slip shoes and appropriate personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement Processes including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs manufacturing equipment (motor controls, DC/AC drives and controls, frying and baking equipment, sheeters, extruders, temperature instrumentation, burner systems and controls, packaging machines, electronic scales, programmable logic controllers), etc.
  • Responsible for repairing various facility equipment types (lift trucks, pumps, fans, air compressors, hydraulic equipment, HVAC), etc.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and implements preventive maintenance.
  • Completes installation and repair work from schematics and drawings.
  • Capable of minor electrical installations.
  • Responsible for quality and food safety tasks for their position.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance records.
  • Report equipment conditions to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist to complete production by working in the line as instructed by Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain inventories of tools and supplies.
  • Maintain shop area clean and organized.
  • Perform any other duties as required by Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintain complete plant cleanliness.
