About The Position

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Maintenance Technician position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide. Job Summary: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and equipment. Assists in repairs of electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. Repairs and maintains physical structures using hand tools and power tools. Provides technical assistance to maintenance workers and helpers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED).
  • Three years experience in the maintenance trade.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, sketches, diagrams and engineered drawings.
  • Intermediate knowledge of mechanical and facilities repair and maintenance.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of electrical trade, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used, and applicable electrical codes.

Nice To Haves

  • Five plus years experience as a maintenance mechanic.
  • Completion of apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Alters, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring systems, fixtures, transformers, and other electrical equipment.
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment with direction and assistance from other senior maintenance workers.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Performs preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications.
  • Repairs, alters and maintains a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers and supervisor to diagnose malfunction.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • Moves, installs and adjusts fixtures, motors and other electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Initiates requisitions for parts.
  • Assists in repairs and maintains forktrucks, electron beam welders, laser cutting, laser marking, robot welders, x-ray equipment,and CNC equipment.
  • Adheres to safety practices and procedures.
  • Follows procedures as defined by Fike policies, procedures and ISO9001 requirements.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is required.
