Summary of Job: The Maintenance Technician performs ongoing facility maintenance and completes repairs on capital equipment. Their duties include troubleshooting HVAC equipment, installing, or repairing plumbing, drywall repair /painting, HVAC system maintenance, wiring, repairing manufacturing equipment, inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards, and scheduling major repairs with the building’s inhabitants.

  • Diagnosis and repair facility / production equipment including both electrical & mechanical issues
  • Perform preventative maintenance on facilities and production equipment
  • Troubleshoot PLC systems and other control systems
  • Install new equipment and understand technical manuals, blueprints and replacement parts
  • Clean and lubricate machinery
  • Inspect equipment operating conditions
  • Identify root causes of equipment problems
  • Install electrical equipment, wiring, and components according to blueprints, schematics, and building codes
  • Must have an understanding and experience in modern electrical systems (110-480V)
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems including HVAC systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Able to disassemble/reassemble mechanical equipment such as gearboxes, cylinders, pumps, valves, etc. and repair/replace worn or defective parts
  • Familiarity with and Experience troubleshooting automation equipment including sensors, PLCs, drives, and motors required
  • Willing to take on any task regardless of size
  • A minimum of 5 years. experience as a maintenance electrician/mechanic in an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Formal education commensurate with the required job skills (Vocational School, BOCES, Community College, etc.)
  • Must be able to physically perform all job duties. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Teamwork- work well with others, including being willing and able to do your part as well as wanting to help others when the need arises
  • Manual Dexterity- steady hand and good eye coordination, as they must grasp, manipulate, and assemble parts and components that are often small.
  • Attention to Detail- detail oriented to make sure that everything comes together as it should
  • Self-Motivation- individual who can monitor their own performance and adjust as required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience with industrial robots / cobots a plus
  • Use of hearing protection, eye protection and safety shoes required. Hearing and eye protection provided. Safety shoes and prescription safety eyewear covered by reimbursement program.
