About The Position

Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and construction duties of a routine nature, with conditions subject to change. Most work responsibilities are covered by established procedures within well-defined areas under limited supervision. A moderate amount of judgment /decision-making is required in the analysis of data or a situation.

Requirements

  • Good organizational skills, with special attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under indirect supervision following established practices and clear-cut policies in the performance of most duties.
  • Makes decisions when general instructions, established methods and clearly defined precedent indicate action to be taken; but refers unusual problems to supervisor.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people.
  • Graduation from a standard high school (or equivalent) is required.
  • One year related experience in a multi-function maintenance organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to variety of work order service calls, troubleshooting maintenance problems.
  • Replaces campus light bulbs, light fixture tubes and ballasts.
  • Reports all unsafe conditions to the maintenance operations center for corrective action.
  • Completes maintenance assignments specified in college work order requests.
  • Repair minor plumbing problems.
  • Assist skilled trade and maintenance personnel with project renovation, construction, painting, or remodeling.
  • Maintain tool shed part inventory, distributes tools, and requested supplies to maintenance personnel, recommending the purchase of supplies and components to replenish inventory.
  • Responds to requests to set-up of equipment and furniture for college events or scheduled functions.
  • Responds to requests from security for crowd control.
  • Possess a valid driver's license or ability to obtain Florida Driver's License within 1 month of employment.
  • Performs other appropriate duties assigned by the Facilities Plant Manager and/or other divisional staff members.
