About The Position

We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Maintenance Technician. This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in industrial maintenance—especially within the steel industry—and hands-on experience working with cut-to-length lines, slitter lines, shears, and other heavy-duty production equipment. Must have experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems is essential. This position plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and adhering to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred; relevant experience may be substituted.
  • 7+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting, preferably in steel or metals industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • OSHA safety certification or equivalent training is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a steel processing or heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on familiarity with cut-to-length lines, slitter lines, shears, and coil handling systems.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, including basic PLC troubleshooting.
  • Proficient with power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.
  • Effective communicator across departments and functions.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.

Responsibilities

  • Experience working within a PM and inventory program.
  • Perform repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on facility equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair motors, gear drives, conveyor systems, motor control centers, pneumatic/hydraulic components, and production line machinery.
  • Execute mechanical tasks including welding, machining, grinding, drilling, and metal fabrication.
  • Perform equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications as needed to support production.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools (e.g., volt-ohm-amp meters) to troubleshoot and service motor control panels and electrical systems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices within the maintenance team.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.
  • Participate in a rotating weekend on-call schedule for emergency maintenance coverage.
