The Facilities Maintenance Assistant works under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance team leader to maintain Goodwill facilities and grounds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Performs basic rough and finished carpentry work in construction and repair of structures, such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, roofs, and shelves, etc. Applies and prepares various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain; repairs wall coverings. 2. Performs basic electrical installation, repair and maintenance work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; Repairs and replaces ballasts, lights and light bulbs in lighting systems. Inspects electrical systems for unsafe conditions. 3. Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; open clogged lines and drains; repairs or replaces faucets, valves, sinks, urinals, and commodes. Does routine maintenance on HVAC systems. Performs diagnostics on HVAC systems. This duty is performed about 30% of the time. 4. Maintains grounds in clean and orderly manner including mowing, trimming, weeding, aerating and fertilizing lawns; replaces plants as needed; sets sprinklers; Replaces broken sprinkler heads; maintains ground maintenance equipment; trims branches that create hazardous situations. Installs and maintains drinking fountains; Repairs/replaces hot water heaters. 5. Maintains and properly stores/secures equipment, supplies, and tools associated with duties. 6. Transports equipment, supplies, and tools to assigned duties. 7. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
