About The Position

Join the YMCA Maintenance Team – Help Us Keep Our Community Strong! The YMCA is looking for dedicated individuals to join our Maintenance Staff. As a key member of our team, you’ll play an essential role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors. From ensuring equipment is in top condition to keeping our facilities spotless, your work will directly contribute to the well-being and experience of our community. The Caylor Nickel Family YMCA is seeking a responsible and attentive Maintenance Assistant to join our team to assist in the maintenance, improvement, safety, and cleaning operations of grounds, properties, facilities, and vehicles.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of facility maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas preferred.
  • This position requires the ability to read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labels.
  • Reliable transportation to attend work.
  • Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Nice To Haves

  • Have a good mechanical aptitude, a focus on safety, good communication skills, and be comfortable working independently as well as in a team.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment repairs
  • Hanging/removing signage
  • Snow removal
  • Weed killing
  • Preventive maintenance tasks (grease bearings, replace belts, clean parts, etc.)
  • Minor plumbing, electrical, and construction
  • Record keeping
  • Some clerical tasks
  • Setup/teardown for classes/events
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment both within and around the facility.
