About The Position

Summary: Under general supervision, diagnose, maintain, repair, and service a wide variety of fleet and specialized vehicles. Perform preventative maintenance as assigned. Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards. Follow company prescribed LOTO procedures for all vehicles, machines, and tools. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures. Ensure shop, equipment, and tools are in safe operating condition. Follow established safety procedures and techniques. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to shop supervisor or regional fleet maintenance manager. Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance. Perform inspections and diagnosis, of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. Rebuild, replace, or repair major vehicle components, assemblies, and systems including, but not limited to engines, transmissions, suspensions, etc. Perform welding, cutting, and minor body work. Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to evaluate electrical / mechanical problems in vehicles using diagnostic equipment and/or software. Be aware of time and materials required to perform major repairs. Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Reviews and completes repairs assigned by the shop supervisor or regional fleet maintenance manager. Reviews and completes repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR). Identify potential warranty claims or possible abuse through proper diagnostics. Execute assigned service calls for emergency breakdowns in a timely manner. Assist other technicians to evaluate minor mechanical problems. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.   • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; internet software and fleet maintenance software.
  • Valid DOT physical
