Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in general maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Must successfully complete background checks, physical exam, and TB test.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing basic English required; bilingual skills in Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or Arabic is a plus.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Flexible schedule and availability for timely phone response.

Responsibilities

  • Mission Support: Deliver high-quality maintenance that reflects the values of Community Progress Council and Head Start of York County.
  • Facility Care: Perform routine and specialized maintenance—plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting—to keep buildings safe and functional.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections to ensure safety and prevent costly repairs.
  • Emergency Response: Address urgent maintenance issues promptly, including after-hours support.
  • Safety & Security: Help implement safety protocols and maintain secure environments.
  • Operational Support: Set up rooms, assist with custodial tasks, deliveries, furniture moves, and seasonal duties.
  • Compliance: Follow safety regulations and support adherence to codes and funder requirements.
  • Communication: Keep clear records and report updates to the Director of Facilities.
