About The Position

Nebraska Game & Parks is seeking a physically driven and quality motivated individual to join their maintenance staff at the Lincoln Office. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside dedicated employees and experience the agency's work-life culture. The position serves as an assistant to the maintenance supervisor and requires being "on call" when scheduled. It is a non-exempt position, meaning it is eligible for overtime. The work is considered entry-level to semi-skilled, involving apprentice-level facility maintenance activities, routine grounds maintenance, and custodial/janitorial or housekeeping tasks. The work is typically labor-intensive and requires close-to-general supervision in building maintenance and repair. Individuals in this role receive verbal instructions to accomplish tasks, with decision-making limited to tool/equipment selection and task sequencing.

Requirements

A Class “O” (operators) Driver’s License with a good driving record
Knowledge of the standard use, maintenance and safety practices associated with hand tools, power tools and light equipment
Knowledge of building and mechanical trade methods, practices and procedures
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions followed in building maintenance operations
Knowledge of grounds maintenance and horticultural practices
Knowledge of safe use of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides
Knowledge of commercial cleaning practices, equipment, supplies and techniques
Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools and building maintenance equipment
Skilled in the use of basic office and computer equipment including the use of email and Excel forms
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to understand, and follow instructions
Ability to read, and comprehend blueprints, reference books and equipment manuals
Ability to utilize and maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely
Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding to perform work above ground level
