About The Position

Columbia Housing is recruiting maintenance technicians with varied levels of experience: entry level, mid-level, expert/certified level. The maintenance technician performs general and some complex maintenance and repair to ensure apartment homes, houses and other property facilities are in good working condition. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing apartments/houses for move-in diagnosing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing (or assisting with repairing) heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units; electrical appliances, outlets, and light fixtures; plumbing, carpentry, etc. Being available for scheduled on-call is required to respond to after hour emergencies. Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, Trade, Technical, or Vocational school
  • One to three years of experience in multifamily property management, facility maintenance, and/or mechanical repair
  • Must have working knowledge of maintenance functions such as plumbing, HVAC, basic electric, general carpentry skills, painting
  • Must have valid South Carolina driver’s license
  • Knowledgeable of state, local, and federal fair housing laws.

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical certification highly preferred.
  • EPA Type II or EPA Universal highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair (or assist with repairing) plumbing.
  • Diagnose, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair (or assist with repairing) carpentry.
  • Be available for scheduled on-call to respond to after hour emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as required.
