Job Summary Job Title: Maintenance TechnicianReports To: Pastor / Parochial AdministratorLocation: St. Monica Parish, Creve Coeur, MOStatus: Full-Time Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and overall maintenance of the parish’s buildings, grounds, and equipment. This full-time position supports the mission of St. Monica Parish by ensuring a clean, safe, and fully operational environment for worship, education, ministry, and community activities. The ideal candidate is skilled in multiple trades, reliable, and committed to working in a faith‑based Catholic setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general repair procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Understanding of safety procedures and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, perform physical labor, and work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Respect for the mission and values of the Catholic Church; comfortable working in a faith‑based environment.
  • Ability to pass a background check and complete required diocesan safe‑environment training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all parish facilities, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building systems.
  • Maintain clean and orderly parish grounds, including landscaping, seasonal upkeep, snow removal, and waste management.
  • Set up and break down furniture, equipment, and materials for parish liturgies, meetings, and special events.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and address issues proactively.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies, including occasional after‑hours needs.
  • Assist with custodial duties when required.
  • Maintain proper functioning, security, and inventory of parish tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Collaborate effectively with parish staff, clergy, and volunteers in support of the parish mission.
