About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of engineering duties in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment; and perform related work as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience as an engineering services technician.
  • All direct patient care staff will be trained in BLS (CPR), which must be renewed every 2 years.
  • All staff, both clinical and non-clinical, will be trained in CPI as part of their orientation. All direct patient care staff will be retrained every year
  • Knowledge of building automation systems
  • Knowledge of safety practices in handling of tools and machinery
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and proper handling such materials
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws and guidelines
  • Basic mathematical ability
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Proven strategic-thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change
  • Sensitivity and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations.
  • Monitors all operating equipment and systems (boilers, chillers, AHU’s, pumps, water heaters, cooling towers, etc.) to ensure they are operating properly and safely at maximum efficiency.
  • Performs engineering rounds and checks equipment for proper operating functionality and performs minor repairs and adjustments as needed.
  • Performs corrective maintenance duties including, but not limited to: replacement and repair of ceiling tiles, drywall, floor tile, cover base, light fixtures, bulbs, lamps, and door hardware.
  • Completes documentation in an accurate and timely manner are required by management. Reviews work order reports to ensure accuracy of documentation processing and resolves discrepancies in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Responsible for computer controls and monitoring of mechanical equipment and utility system.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures, such as wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc. using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance, such as replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, replacing drain hoses, etc. to provide operable and efficient plumbing capabilities to all Departments.
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work such as preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles to provide an operable and efficient facility.
  • Assists in performing minor HVAC work such as adjusting and calibrating thermostats, digital controls and HVAC and electric energy management systems and proper equipment operation using various hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Performs outside custodial duties as needed.
  • Works effectively with all departments.
  • Participates in activities to enhance professional growth and development.
