In this role you will support maintenance and repair activities for production equipment at the Amgen Rhode Island (ARI) manufacturing site. You will work as part of a maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability and support manufacturing operations. In this role, you will be expected to work a 12-hour shift (7PM-7AM) on a rotating schedule. This includes extra benefits such as receiving an added 15% shift differential, and also getting premium pay for any Sundays worked. The schedule during the initial on-boarding phase for this role (2-6 weeks) will be administrative (Monday through Friday, approximately 8am to 5pm).

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and 1 year of utility operations or maintenance work or military experience OR Associate degree

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of combined education, training, or experience in mechanical maintenance with exposure to sanitary processing equipment and systems.
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment such as cGMP manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with executing and documenting maintenance work orders in a CMMS (e.g., Maximo).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and equipment documentation.
  • Ability to perform maintenance tasks with guidance from senior technicians or supervisors.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on equipment and systems used in Manufacturing, the Process Development Laboratory, the Quality Analytical Laboratory, or other ARI site areas.
  • Support preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks following established procedures and safety standards.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in diagnosing equipment issues and escalating complex problems when needed.
  • Accurately complete work order documentation in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Communicate maintenance activities, equipment status, and issues with operators and team members.
  • Contribute to maintaining a productive and efficient work environment.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in training and development to expand technical skills and improve team performance.
  • Provide support as required, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, or overtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
