About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing leadership and technical support as relates to installing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, set-up and training on Flexible Packaging, Dental and Contract Packaging equipment. Prioritize and self-schedule work around production activities to achieve both production and maintenance goals. Lead Installation, repair, and maintain production manufacturing machinery and equipment for a safe and productive work environment with minimal supervision. Facilitator and champion of Safety Awareness. Evaluate /assess the feasibility of producing current and future flexible and contract packaging requests. Lead in resolving technical issues. Troubleshoot equipment problems, diagnose, and make necessary repairs/adjustments. Implement escalation as needed. Read and interpret equipment manuals. Ability to read and understand Production job sheets. Provides training to production employees on key processes and procedures applicable to their respective production area. Able to perform all first piece qualification testing. Participates and facilitates “on the job” training. Maintain tooling. Work with engineering to develop tooling and attachments. Replaces faulty components such as motors, gearboxes, cartridge heaters, air cylinders. Maintain equipment as necessary to facilitate the manufacture of product and ensure compliance with quality standards. Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic. Evaluate preventive maintenance effectiveness. Use a variety of hand and power tools, and other mechanical equipment. Perform basic/intermediate machinist duties as needed. Start-up and shutdown of equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA Lock Out/Tag Out. Support all aspects of CMMS. Support the company’s quality improvement efforts by adhering to ISO standards and participating in continuous improvement activities. Communicate and collaborate with department managers as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in materials and manufacturing operations in flexible packaging environment.
  • Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills.
  • Fully understand blueprints, specifications, manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • General understanding of electrical systems and the ability to work safely around low voltage systems.
  • Ability to use/read various measuring devices such as rulers, tape measures, micrometers, & dial calipers
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude that encourages teamwork and the support of other employees.
  • Exercise independent judgment when inspecting parts acceptability for further operations.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Proficient math skills
  • CMMS familiarity
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate computer skills and windows navigation
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High School diploma/GED, completion of craft apprenticeship, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Some experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • 5 years of Flexible packaging experience, food processing and packaging a plus

Nice To Haves

  • PLC and electrical experience are a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic properties of materials and principles of mechanical operation preferred.
  • Experience with ISO Standards preferred.
