About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance to ensure the efficient operation of production machinery and equipment. This Maintenance Technician role supports multiple systems including extruders, auxiliary equipment, reduction equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems to maintain production flow and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Forklift and clamp truck certification
  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory (AC/DC voltage, breakers, meters)
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, welding, plumbing, and fabrication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with tools, measurements, and mechanical conversions
  • Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with extruders, pneumatics, hydraulics, and plant systems
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling
  • Lift 25 lbs regularly; up to 75 lbs occasionally
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with noise, moving machinery, and temperature variations
  • Required PPE: safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (PLC-5, SLC 500, MicroLogix, ControlLogix)
  • Familiarity with PanelView HMI and Remote I/O systems
  • Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full extruder function and enforce safe operating procedures
  • Maintain guards, gauges, blow plugs, and emergency stops
  • Monitor temperature control and drive RPM relationships
  • Maintain downstream equipment for continuous production
  • Keep spare equipment ready for transfer
  • Monitor color feeders and blenders; submit QC samples quarterly
  • Maintain blade and drive belt inventory
  • Ensure grinders and shredders remain fully operational
  • Troubleshoot wiring systems and electrical components
  • Trace electrical issues from breaker to motor applications
  • Maintain air distribution systems and hydraulic components
  • Replace hoses, maintain regulators, oil mist systems, and compressors
  • Operate and maintain hydraulic systems and valve controls
  • Maintain water systems, chillers, and PVC plumbing
  • Service loaders, receivers, silo piping, and rail car unloaders
  • Address dock levelers, stretch wrappers, forklifts, and clamp trucks
