About The Position

At Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Services, we are helping to create brighter, healthier futures for our patients and their families. We are the Piedmont Triad's only private psychiatric hospital meeting the chemical dependency illnesses and behavioral healthcare needs of those in our community. Our 164-bed inpatient services for adolescents through senior adulthood offers comprehensive and individual assessments, psychiatric evaluation and medication stabilization, daily group therapy and personalized aftercare planning. We also offer a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program to ensure the continuum of care for our patients. Old Vineyard is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. We are passionate about our work and are looking for individuals who share in this passion. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our talented and caring team. Our ideal candidate will possess strong multitasking skills, great communication skills with the ability to engage positively with patients, staff, families, providers, etc., Must work well under pressure with several competing priorities and maintain professionalism at all times. Maintenance Technician The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient operation of hospital buildings, equipment and grounds through provision of skilled maintenance, repair and construction duties. The maintenance technician works day shift hours and is on call for hospital emergencies once per month.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in facility maintenance within healthcare or property management field
  • Current NC Driver's License with a good driving record as verified by the NC Department of Public Safety
  • Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and air conditioning repair and maintenance
  • Safety and general hospital operations
  • Knowledge of tools
  • Available for 24-hour on call responsibility
  • Experience driving safely in ice/snow conditions 6. Independent work with minimum supervision
  • Climbing, ability to ascent and descent ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, using feet, legs, hands and arms
  • Ability to maintain equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces
  • Stooping, bending downward and forward by bending at the waist; kneeling by bending at the knees; ability to come to rest on one or both knees
  • Crouching, crawling, moving about on hands and knees
  • Reaching, extending hands and arms in any direction
  • Standing for sustained periods of time
  • Work is considered heavy and requires exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects in a manner of force, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move said objects
  • Pushing, use of upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust it forward, downward or outward (up to 100 pounds)
  • Pulling; use of upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in sustained motion (up to 100 pounds)
  • Lifting to raise objects from a lower to higher position, moving objects horizontally (up to 100 pounds)
  • Fingering; to pick, pinch or otherwise work with the fingers
  • Grasping; apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm
  • Feeling; perceiving attributes of an object such as size, shape, temperature and texture by touching, particularly with fingertips. Substantial repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, fingers or other body parts
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to perform tasks as assigned
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately and sometimes loudly
  • Receiving the nature of sounds of no less that 40 db loss @ Hz 1000, 2000 Hz, with or without correction, and to receive detail communications through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound such as when making adjustments on machine parts
  • Worker is exposed to environmental conditions occurring inside and outside of the buildings where temperatures below 40 degrees for periods of more than an hour can be found and above 100 degrees for periods of more than an hour can be found.
  • Employee may be exposed to: Internal/External disasters in which appropriate policies, procedures, and plans must be followed to protect personnel, patients, and staff
  • Infections/communicable diseases and hazardous/toxic agents
  • May encounter some chemical listed in the SDS sheets
  • Noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level
  • Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body
  • Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on extension ladder and high places, exposure to chemicals
  • One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
  • There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids
  • OSHA - Occupational Safety and Health Administration: Blood Borne Pathogens Standards, CFR 1910.1030
  • This position is susceptible to reasonably anticipated skin, eye, mucous membrane, or potential contact with blood or other potentially infectious material that may result from the performance of an employee’s duties or “occupational exposure.” However, all employees have access to the facility’s Exposure Control Plan and SDS Sheets. Knowledge of appropriate policies, procedures, and plans is required.
  • Category II - Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues but employment may require performing UNPLANNED Category I tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for general repairs and maintenance for facility using knowledge and skills in painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
  • Perform on-going inspections of buildings and grounds for safety concerns.
  • Maintain facility grounds to include parking lot cleanliness, snow preparation and removal, trimming bushes and hedges, ensuring clear walkways, etc.
  • Prepare facility for special functions, including setting up tables, chairs and equipment.
  • Respond in a timely manner to alarms and codes in accordance with safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Repair and maintain HVAC equipment.
  • Complete works orders in a timely manner, ensuring work order is closed out through The WorxHub system.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and inspections per documented schedule.
  • Performs a variety of driving responsibilities including, but not limited to, picking up needed supplies at local vendor locations, delivery and pickup of needed items to/from off-site storage, delivery of equipment and supplies throughout campus, and staff transportation during inclement weather events or other hospital-determined emergencies.
  • Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.
  • Participates in all required training and in-service programs for the position.
  • Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.
  • Participates in on-call rotation (once every 4-weeks)
