The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment and facilities within a food manufacturing environment. This position involves a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Safety and Food Safety: Always performs tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards. Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks on production machinery, including conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, and refrigeration systems. Conduct inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to ensure equipment operates efficiently and meets production requirements. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime. Respond promptly and provide emergency unscheduled troubleshooting and repairs of production equipment during the manufacturing process to prevent disruptions to production. Facility Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the production area, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards and food safety regulations. Monitor and repair facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, to support a safe and comfortable working environment. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and safe work practices. Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety initiatives to promote a culture of safety. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies related to food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations (e.g., HACCP, Food Safety, GMP’s, Food Fraud/Defense, Allergens, Organic, Gluten Free). Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment inspections, and inventory management. Document equipment repairs, parts replacements, and maintenance procedures to track equipment history and performance. Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with production supervisors and operators to prioritize maintenance tasks and minimize disruptions to production schedules. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and safety personnel, to address maintenance issues and implement solutions. Provide technical assistance and training to production staff on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols. Perform all other duties as assigned.
