About The Position

Life's WORC is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for a full-time position on Long Island. For over 50 years, Life’s WORC has provided high quality services and support to people with intellectual disabilities and autism in Queens, Manhattan, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Today, they support more than 2,000 people across their residential locations and community programs. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining Suffolk programs and performing field work, ensuring assigned homes meet agency safety standards, and completing various maintenance and repair tasks.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience in general maintenance and repair.
Ability to work independently.
Valid driver’s license.
Own vehicle use is mandatory.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to troubleshoot/repair basic plumbing and electrical issues.
Overall knowledge and ability to utilize basic hand tools.
Strong appliance diagnostics/repair background.
Must have reliable vehicle.

Nice To Haves

Certification a plus in HVAC, electric, plumbing and carpentry.
Trade Certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure assigned homes meet agency standards for safety.
Complete all work assignments in an efficient manner.
Perform snow removal and landscaping tasks as needed and assigned, including providing on-call support during storms or other emergencies.
Purchase and store necessary equipment and supplies.
Submit receipts of all purchases made on a weekly basis.
Establish systems to ensure for ongoing routine maintenance.
Attend scheduled maintenance meetings.
Drive agency vans and demonstrate safe driving practices.
Perform other duties as needed.
