About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic role involves a variety of activities including housekeeping, monitoring systems, ensuring countermeasures are followed, repairing and executing work with other maintenance staff, and assisting other departments as needed. This position is crucial to operations, requiring candidates to follow clear directions, work in a loud, cold environment, and collaborate as part of a team.

Requirements

  • 0 -3 years of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and recognize similarities and difference.
  • Ability to do continuous repetitive work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills
  • A strong work ethic and a can-do attitude
  • Self-motivated and self-starter
  • Ability to work with various employees and employee levels while building rapport and respect.
  • Must be punctual and regular attendance is required.
  • Understand and follow all color-coding rules as stated in procedures for utensils, containers, and other equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment.
  • Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
  • Follow all GMP, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures.
  • Clean-up work areas or other housekeeping duties as assigned or needed.
  • Servicing machinery for the prevention of breakdowns, in accordance with the organizations LOTO program
  • Knowledge in fabrication and electrical
  • Entry level ability to perform Total Productive Maintenance in any equipment that include but are not limited to repair or replacement of: Bearings, Bushings, Shafts, Gear Boxes, Greasing, Lubing, etc.
  • Ability to assess issues, troubleshoot, and develop proper countermeasures.
  • Inspect systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required by position.
