About The Position

Performs skilled tasks such as repairing and maintaining steam lines, chilled water lines, and sewer lines. Installs new equipment such as sinks, tubs, toilets, water heaters, etc. Examines drainage systems for obstructions and necessary repairs. Reviews work orders, orders materials for completion of jobs, and monitors inventory. Responds to emergencies during evening, nighttime, and weekend hours. Assists in moving and rearranging furniture and other equipment. Assists with event set-ups and office relocations by moving and assembling furniture and transferring materials. Assists in various ground maintenance projects such as removing snow from sidewalks, parking lots, steps, entrances and exits. Operates a variety of electrical and maintenance hand tools and equipment. Assists with other general facilities operations duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Class E Driver's License
  • Good knowledge of work methods and materials associated with maintenance field
  • Good knowledge of practices, work methods, tools and equipment associated with building maintenance trade
  • Ability to operate hand tools associated with building maintenance field
  • Ability to read blue prints, schemas, and plans to analyze and locate work projects
  • Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions
  • Sufficient strength to perform some heavy lifting and work on ladders on an occasional basis
  • Ability to exercise basic human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the University community
