WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN As a Maintenance Technician at Berkshire Kensington, your days will be filled with hands‑on work supporting the upkeep, safety, and comfort of our senior‑living community. You'll perform routine and preventive maintenance-such as HVAC inspections, plumbing repairs, safety checks, and general building care-to ensure residents enjoy a clean, functional, and well‑maintained environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must provide personal hand tools
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience in residential property maintenance or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction, carpentry, painting, and vendor/parts management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate professionally and respectfully with residents and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or trade school certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and pool control systems
  • Manage work orders, vacant unit turnovers, and coordinate contractors for estimates and approved work
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance, including grounds care, common areas, trash/recycling, inspections, and preventive maintenance
  • Assist in managing the operating budget for turnovers, R&M, and capital expenditure items
  • Report accidents, emergencies, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately
  • Support additional properties as needed
  • Participate in the on‑call rotation
  • Demonstrate and uphold Oakbrook's values
  • Other duties as assigned
