About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. Supporting upholstery production, this role works with cutting tables, sewing machines, compressors, material handling systems, and other mechanical and electrical equipment to minimize downtime and keep production running smoothly. In addition to performing timely repairs, the Maintenance Technician drives preventative maintenance initiatives, identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, and contributes to a high-performing, safety-focused manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in industrial or manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair required; experience in automated or upholstery manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic trouble shooting and repair skills.
  • Proficiency in safely operating hand and power tools and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and computerized maintenance management systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated critical-thinking, root cause analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and respond effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative and predictive maintenance on upholstery manufacturing equipment according to established schedules.
  • Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues and performs timely repairs.
  • Troubleshoots PLC-controlled and software-driven equipment as applicable.
  • Conducts routine software updates on cutting tables, automated systems, and related production machinery.
  • Collaborates with machine manufacturers and vendors for technical support and warranty claims.
  • Maintains spare parts inventory and coordinates ordering of replacement components.
  • Responds promptly to maintenance requests to minimize production downtime.
  • Performs general facility maintenance including lighting repairs, minor electrical work, plumbing repairs, and structural maintenance.
  • Maintains compressors, dust collection systems, and other plant infrastructure equipment.
  • Supports equipment installations, plant layout changes, and facility improvement projects.
  • Documents maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and system updates in the company maintenance management system.
  • Communicates equipment status, repair timelines, and potential operational risks to management and production teams.
  • Recommends equipment improvements, process enhancements, or replacement needs when appropriate.
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and plant efficiency.
  • Leads and sustains 5S standards throughout the plant by organizing maintenance areas, supporting production workspaces, identifying improvement opportunities, and ensuring equipment and facility areas remain clean, orderly, and audit-ready.
