About The Position

The Maintenance Technician supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Candidate performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc. This person will have the responsibility to provide written reports/logs to the Facilities Manager to assist in the reliable and efficient operation of base building and critical environment functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • One (1) year of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, electrical and HVAC
  • Ability to safely crawl, climb and lift at least 50lbs
  • Knowledge and safe performance practices in the use of relevant equipment and tools
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills and ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines essential
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the issues and health disparities faced by underserved populations is essential

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years preferred experience
  • Familiarity with computers and MS Office software (Outlook, Word)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a thorough understanding of properties assigned, Review building operations, preventative maintenance schedules, energy management systems and equipment status
  • Complete and provide work order status updates through computerized work order system. Collaborate with the Facilities Assistant and Facilities Manager to resolve problems delaying completion of work orders
  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance and asset lifecycle programs. Create and maintain logs and inspection reports for testing and preventative maintenance on life – safety equipment
  • Perform predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance, maintenance routines and equipment rounds and service requests as directed
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems to determine the cause of the malfunction, contact and oversee vendor for repairs if needed and outside of skill set
  • Inspect buildings for adequate heating, lighting and ventilation, and ensure that properties are properly cleaned, in good order and in good working condition
  • Complete general maintenance and minor repair work including but not limited to: doors, windows, toilet seats, toilet flushes, tap washers and interior and exterior painting and sealing
  • Move office furniture, machinery, equipment and other materials as requested
  • Ensure that clear fire passages are maintained in escape routes of buildings; Maintain and enforce building code guidelines for maintenance, mechanical and electric areas
  • Provide on call services to respond and perform emergency repairs or preventative maintenance off hours as directed on nights and weekends
