Performs general, routine maintenance and servicing operations to maintain the facility/hospital and equipment. Responsible for completing assigned preventive maintenance and daily work requests as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor or Executive Director of Facilities Operations/Safety Officer. Performs other duties as assigned. The staffing of the Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross-trained in other administrative areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as requested.

  • Maintains positive working relationships and fosters a cooperative work environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to read blueprints.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and working knowledge of all building systems and equipment: electrical systems, essential electrical systems, plumbing systems, mechanical systems, HVAC systems, medical gas and vacuum systems, nurse call, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, and other building systems and equipment
  • Demonstrates an ability to make or schedule repairs to such systems and equipment.
  • Responds to all work requests in a timely and professional manner and provides appropriate feedback/responses to customer request.
  • Documents all work requests in the Computerized Maintenance System.
  • Responsible for all daily physical plant operations: performing rounds, documenting and maintaining all logs, ensuring physical plant equipment and systems function at all times. Making repairs to equipment and systems as necessary and records in the Computerized Maintenance System.
  • Responsible for completing assigned PM’s and documenting in the Computerized Maintenance System.
  • Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and center-related business.
  • Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees.
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent (G.E.D)
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Must be alert, honest, and of good character.
  • Ability to read and write (legibly).
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively.
  • Ability to follow instruction to complete task.
  • Ability to respond quickly, physically and mentally as the need arises.
  • Compliance with the attendance policy.
  • Ability to function independently without constant supervision.
  • Requires physical and mental stamina; prolonged walking and standing; carrying, pushing, pulling, squatting and stooping.
  • Ability to constantly utilize manual dexterity.
  • Requires hearing and visual acuity.
  • Ability to understand simple written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to solve simple problems.
  • High exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment and chemicals. Hazards will be minimized if universal safety procedures are followed. Must follow standard precautions.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
