About The Position
Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities across 12 states. We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team in Union County, NJ. This role is crucial for maintaining the residences of the individuals we support, ensuring that their living environments are safe, functional, and welcoming. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks including repairing issues that arise, completing regular maintenance plans, and collaborating with local management to contract external contractors when necessary. This position requires a proactive approach to maintenance, as it involves on-call emergency response and may require weekend hours. The ideal candidate must have reliable transportation and experience in assembling furniture, as these skills are essential for the role. In this position, the Maintenance Technician will develop a schedule of basic maintenance tasks and ensure that all required maintenance is completed in a timely manner. The technician will also be responsible for ensuring that repairs are made safely and in compliance with local laws and regulations. This includes installing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and structural components such as appliances, fans, lights, flooring, carpets, paneling, and doors. Additionally, the technician will perform basic maintenance tasks including painting, spackling, and basic electrical or plumbing work. The role also involves advising management when outside contractors may be necessary and reviewing contractor estimates to ensure they accurately reflect the required repairs and reasonable job costs. Following OSHA guidelines for safety and proper handling of tools is a critical aspect of this position, as is cooperating with the licensee and department staff during inspections, inquiries, or investigations. Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
