The Maintenance Technician brings a strong work ethic with the ability to work under minimal supervision and manages multiple projects. The candidate will have a keen eye for the details. The candidate is responsible for maintaining and fixing all aspects of the aquarium and/or any equipment as assigned by the work order system. The Maintenance Technician brings to the position effective communication, excellent guest service skills and the ability to work cooperatively with all other departments and team members.

  • Diagnose malfunctioning system using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Repair or replace wiring and equipment.
  • Work with blueprints or instructions.
  • Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
  • Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures.
  • Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
  • Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of the building.
  • Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
  • Use levels, plumb bobs, framing squares, to ensure everything is level and secure.
  • Build aquarium program theming as needed.
  • Place conduit inside designated partitions, walls or other concealed areas, and pull wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Create structures for pouring concrete.
  • Erect scaffolding.
  • Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to wall for switches or outlets.
  • Replace panes of glass, ceiling tiles, and doors.
  • Repair or build furniture.
  • Install partitions, doors, and windows.
  • Proficient operation of scissor lifts, pallet jacks, and fork lifts.
  • Drywall repair.
  • Basic plumbing, repair toilets and sinks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Keep track of tools and inventory supplies.
  • Use welder when necessary.
  • Replace switches, receptacles and cord caps.
  • Basic HVAC repair and control.
  • Basic network cabling.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2+ years commercial maintenance experience or equivalent skills from other employment.
  • Must be familiar with current building codes.
  • Forklift certified.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must be familiar with current OSHA regulations.
