About The Position

Position Summary: Performs semi skilled work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and associated equipment/systems. Responds to emergency situations as necessary. Must possess a CPO (Certified Pool Operator) license or acquire within 9 months. Creates the work schedule in consultation with supervisor for all 3 shift Troubleshooters. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED General knowledge/skills of the following: -minor HVAC, minor electrical, minor plumbing, minor carpentry, minor repair of doors/windows, including hardware, painting, including minor wall repair, general building maintenance, mechanical aptitude, respond to various alarms, extensive knowledge of fire alarm systems (fire, elevator entrapment, sprinkler, leaks, etc. Monitor Metasys HVAC control systems. Individual must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the University, which includes maintaining a low risk driving record. Must possess maturity in judgment, have demonstrated professionalism, creativity, and ability to get along with widely diverse personalities. Basic computer skills. Must have CPO (Certified Pool Operator) license or acquire within 9 months in order to perform basic maintenance on the KU fountain, IC Chapel font, and the Rec Plex pool system. Preferred Qualifications: While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following: CPO (Certified Pool Operator) license Refrigerant recovery certification Trades related certifications/training (documentation required) Minimum of 5 years experience performing work as described herein Special Instructions to Applicants: Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, First/Second shift. Weekend, holiday, and third-shift assignments may be required, with a rotating schedule providing for some weekends off.
